About SunVentive Zero

1Who is SunVentive Zero?

SunVentive Zero is an agritech company founded with the goal of moving the world of indoor agriculture forward in a big way. Indoor cultivation methods have become stagnant and overly-reliant on artificial lighting, but SunVentive Zero changes that by putting the focus of agriculture back on nature. That’s what’s best for the plant, and best for your crop.

2What are the biggest challenges faced by indoor grows?

Indoor cultivation methods have become stagnant.

Today, indoor cultivation takes three major forms: mixed light greenhouses, HID facilities and LED lighting facilities. Each of these has its inherent drawbacks, including high overhead expenses for design and construction; excessive energy usage and skyrocketing electricity costs; heat build-up, which leads to high crop failure rates from molds and mildews; and a lack of the full-spectrum of natural light crops need to thrive.

Given this range of problems, farmers are not getting their money's worth out of the considerable investment needed to create and maintain an indoor cultivation facility. And yet, there remain no alternatives to these dominant indoor cultivation methods – until SunVentive Zero.

3How does SunVentive Zero solve indoor cultivation's biggest challenges?

SunVentive Zero eschews the notion that indoor cultivation facilities must be completely divorced from the outdoors. Instead of creating a completely artificial environment, SunVentive Zero structures these indoor grow facilities in a way that places Mother Nature at the very center.

It all starts with devices that allow 99.7% of the sun's full-spectrum light and photosynthesis-driving PAR to enter the indoor agriculture facilities we design. Not only does this mean healthier and happier plants, but it also means reducing the number of hours that artificial lights are used, which in turn cuts both overhead expenses and long-term electricity costs. When artificial lighting is necessary, SunVentive Zero facility designs leverage intelligent lighting solutions to ensure that no energy is wasted while your crops get what they need for maximum yield. The result is an indoor agriculture facility that uses anywhere from 60% to 90% less electricity.

Without thousands of light bulbs to give off tons of heat, the heat transfer problems that once plagued indoor grows are completely mitigated. On average, SunVentive Zero facilities reduce crop failure to around 7% or 8%.

SunVentive Zero offers more than just design and hardware. We also offer strategic support. With assisted SOP development, SunVentive Zero will help you make the most out of your indoor cultivation facility.

4What size facilities does SunVentive Zero design?

SunVentive Zero’s solutions are completely scalable for commercial grows of all sizes.

5What type of crops perform well with the SV0 system?

SunVentive Zero is crop-agnostic. Simply tell us what you grow and we’ll design a facility around what’s best for your crops.

Some common crop types include:

  • Lettuce and leafy greens
  • Herbs
  • Commercial flowers
  • Cannabis
  • Tomatoes and vine crops
  • Microgreens
  • Strawberries

6How much electricity can a grow facility save after switching to SunVentive Zero?

By introducing free natural sunlight as the central pillar of your indoor grow operation, as well as intelligent lighting software to streamline your facility's efficiency, SunVentive Zero can cut energy costs anywhere from 60% to 90%. Not only is this more cost-effective than facilities which rely on HID or LED lights, but it reduces the stress on the environment as well.

7How does SunVentive Zero reduce crop failure rate?

SunVentive Zero's methods result in a reduced crop failure rate for three major reasons:

  • Natural, full-spectrum sunlight supports healthier vegetative and flowering growth
  • Reduced heat from less artificial light cuts down on molds and mildews
  • Controlled environment protects from the elements, pests, infestations and the like

By maintaining a natural focus in a controlled environment, SunVentive Zero gives your crops the best of both worlds – a protected indoor grow with the full benefits of the sun.

8How much can SV0 reduce crop failure rate?

SunVentive Zero cuts the crop failure rate from more than 30% down to just 7% or 8%. That astronomical decrease means a more productive harvest – and increased revenue.

9What is heat buildup, and why is it bad for crops in indoor grows?

Heat retention occurs when ventilation in an indoor cultivation facility isn't suitable enough to keep the temperature at appropriate levels. It can occur on a particularly sunny day or due to artificial lighting. Too much heat is not only bad for crop growth, but it drives plant transpiration, which in turn generates excess humidity, which promotes the growth of molds and mildews, the bane of all cultivation. This excess humidity can significantly increase crop failure rates and even wipe out an entire harvest if left unchecked.
